5 Clean Kitchen Hacks for the Not So Perfect Homemaker
I know I'm not the only person who loves a clean kitchen, but hates doing the actual cleaning up after others. When you have a home full of people, the kitchen is bound to get dirty again and again. This concept is something I struggled with when I became a homemaker. I would get frustrated when the kitchen would end up dirty in what seemed like minutes after I cleaned it. I'd have everything shiny, fingerprint and grime free only to go away, come back and the sink be full of dishes yet again.

So what's a homemaker to do?

Make Laundry Easy with a Front Load Washer

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

I was considering hiring someone to come in an help with homemaking tasks, but instead invested in high-end appliances. Higher end appliances often give you more for your buck because they do more and lessen your workload.

I tried endlessly early in my marriage to get my husband to hire a helper. Especially once I started working from home. Having four kids and running a business can sometimes force chores to take a backseat.

Laundry was one of those areas that begin to suffer a bit. I'd ask my husband to consider letting someone come in and at the very least wash clothes a few times a week. At that time I was washing, folding, drying and trying to put away 3-4 loads of clothes a day. As you can guess, I was not successful. While my husband was totally against hiring a living, breathing helper he wasn't against investing in great appliances to make my job as a homemaker easier.

Triple Layer Fudge Ice Cream Cake
Today was my children's last day of school and I wanted to kick it off with a bang. I didn't want to give them time to start bickering so I planned games and made a sweet summer dessert to surprise them.

When they came in the door they were excited that school was over. I told them to grab a quick lunch and meet me at the patio table. I had scrabble set up and this yummy Triple Layer Fudge Ice Cream Cake, ready to go. The cake only requires five ingredients and is easy to make.

One of the best parts about summer is Germaine does a lot of the cooking. Frequent grilling was a big part of his childhood growing up in the south. It's also a rite of passage for the males. When I watch him and his friends text pictures to each other showing off thier skills and touting thier grill master bravado I think it's so adorable.

I'm usually in charge in the kitchen, but when he fires up the grill I become his sous chef. I'm responsible for seasoning the meats and making the sides.

DIY Painted Drop Cloth Curtains
I've been wanting to update my deck window treatments for about ten years. While my kids were growing up, I put a lot of home improvements on hold. I loved when my kids were little, but they were also messy. Having kids comes with fingerprints and stains on your walls and fabrics.

My kids are older now, but still messy so I decided to stop putting off decor updates. Instead, I've decided to find solutions that will let my kids be kids while I enjoy my home.

This is the first of those solutions. I decided to take down the window blinds covering our patio door and hang some kid-friendly DIY Painted Drop Cloth Curtains. The curtains are made using canvas drop cloth, paint and then sprayed with Scotchgard™ Fabric & Upholstery Protector.

How to Recharge After a Workout + Rainbow Salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette RecipeThe few minutes after I finish my workout have become a very important part of my day. After every workout, I take time to recharge with a meal and plan my day.

Carving out this time has become a life changing habit that's gotten easier with a little prep. To prep, I plan my meals on the Sunday before my week begins. This week I made a light and refreshing Rainbow Salad paired with a Strawberry Vinaigrette and Mango Pineapple Aquafina Sparkling.

My snacking habits have gotten a bit out of hand lately. There were a bunch of concessions snacks left over from our fundraiser that I went a little crazy eating. It's been easy grabbing something pre-made and snacking on it in the afternoons while I worked, but after a few weeks I noticed my waistline was increasing. So when I sat down to do my meal plan for the week, I penciled in a new snack recipe that only required a handful of ingredients and allowed me to experiment with some new flavor combinations.

How to Paint a Vinyl Roller Shade Using Stencil
Sometimes I love being in my kitchen and then there are times when I don't. When I go in there and things are grimy and cluttered I just want to throw the whole kitchen in the trash and start fresh. Unfortunately that's not possible so the only thing I can do is clean it so it can feel like my happy place again. This weekend was rainy and gloomy so I decided to give my kitchen a deep clean which ended with a fun project for the window over my sink.

3 Ways to Wrap and Present your Mother's Day Gift
I hosted my very first Mother's Day brunch the year before last for the mother's in my immediate family. There's me, my mom, my mother-in-law, daughter and sister-in-law. The brunch wasn't actually on Mother's Day but the week before.

It was such a fun event that allowed the mother's in my family to relax and enjoy a day of pampering stress free. This was actually my husbands idea and the rules, were that the women would not lift a finger. My husband cooked all of the food and the men and boys served us. After eating we had a time of recognition and gift giving. I took time to personally address each of the others in my family to tell them how amazing they were and how much they helped me become the woman I am today. After the recognition, each mom received a small gift. This year, we plan to personally deliver gifts to my mother and mother-in-law. I'm going to present each of them with flowers and a personalized gift. My goal is to make their day special. Mother's Day is about family and American Greetings is helping me celebrate the two women who have been such a blessing to me.

How to Make Your Own Graphic Tee + $50 Hanes Gift Card #Giveaway + Prize

This DIY Graphic Tee tutorial will show you how to create a customized, professional looking tee for less at home. This tutorial is sponsored post in partnership with Hanes.
I am all in on the graphic tee trend this year. If I could wear a graphic tee every day I would. There are so many tees out there that express me that I just can't get enough of them.

On the flip side, some sellers have gotten way out of control on their prices. I mean $40 for a tee?

Really?!? I think not.

I wanted a some cool comfy tees but $40 a pop is a bit much. For those of you who are 'ballin on a budget' today I'll show you how I made my own professional looking tee for less.

So I was thinking Cinco De Mayo is coming up and when my kids were young, my husband and I couldn't get out of the house much to celebrate with friends. Part of being a parent sometimes means giving up your social life with friends and sneaking in date nights in the car after the kids are asleep. That was pretty much our mode of socializing.

Spicy Roasted Corn, Chicken and Avocado Salad

Spicy Roasted Corn, Chicken and Avocado Salad
This time of year makes me long for easy lunches that are hearty enough to fill me up, but fresh, light and easy to prepare. My life is busy right. Too busy for complicated meal plans. So when I'm planning my lunches for the week I look for dishes that are easy to make and flavorful. One recipe that made it on my menu this week is a Spicy Roasted Corn, Chicken and Avocado Salad made using fresh Sunshine Sweet Corn, leftover chicken and in season produce.

I found this recipe on SunshineSweetCorn.com under the recipe tab. I'd never had corn and avocado in the same dish so I was looking forward to try this combination. I made the salad right after finishing my work out. By that time I was hungry and needed something quick to eat. The entire salad from start to finish took about 20-minutes and ten of that was broiling the corn.

On-Trend Affordable Prescription Eyeglasses
Gone are the days where prescription eyeglass wearers have to buy eyeglasses from the selection offered by their optometrist.

I've been mail ordering my prescription glasses online ever since paying $145 for a pair of eyeglasses I didn't love but bought because were the best-looking pair my optometrist offered.

Once I figured out I could order my own prescription eyeglasses online I've been doing that ever since.

I just love those cute vanity trays I see in the home decor store that are labeled with words like "ring" or "lotion". The ones I see are usually white with black words and didn't fit the style I wanted for my guest bath so I decided to make my own.

Last month I started reading Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson and was inspired to declutter and update the look of my office bookshelves. This first phase wasn't hard after seeing all of the inspiration in Moll's book. Let me show you what I did.
First, I decluttered the shelves by taking everything off. Then I dusted and wiped the surfaces.

4 P's for prepping your living room for spring #ad #GladeAtmosphereCollection
To make a house a home, every room should have a story. Whether you live in an apartment, condo or house you should figure out how you can best use the space to make it inspire you. Ever since I lived on my own, I've taken the time to create a space that inspires me and makes me happy being in it.

My bedroom and living room are my favorite rooms in our home. My husband and I worked together on the feel we wanted for both spaces and they've become a mini retreat for us. We hang out mostly in our bedroom, but when we have movie night or friends over, we hang out in the living room.

This room has been a little neglected lately with it being so cold and dreary. But the recent warm weather and NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade® scents inspired me to spruce things up.

How to Compare Mobile Plans to Get the Most Value #YourTaxCash

I love hunting down the best prices for the best value on everything I buy. I'm equally excited about making my money, especially my income tax return stretch as far as possible.

Just a few weeks ago my phone stopped working and I needed a new one. I told my husband that since we had to buy a new phone for me, we might as well get a new phone for the kids and switch them from their plan with Walmart Family Mobile over to our carrier.

Before we could finalize the decision, I had to make sure the switch would save us money. If my husband and I could get the same price with our carrier that we were paying with Walmart Family Mobile it only made sense to have one company.

So I sat down and started comparing the carriers, service and prices and found that we'd be paying more by combining the kids with our service provider and getting less service.
