Office Bookshelf Update

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias
Last month I started reading Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson and was inspired to declutter and update the look of my office bookshelves. This first phase wasn't hard after seeing all of the inspiration in Moll's book. Let me show you what I did.
First, I decluttered the shelves by taking everything off. Then I dusted and wiped the surfaces.

4 P's for prepping your living room for spring #ad #GladeAtmosphereCollection
To make a house a home, every room should have a story. Whether you live in an apartment, condo or house you should figure out how you can best use the space to make it inspire you. Ever since I lived on my own, I've taken the time to create a space that inspires me and makes me happy being in it.

My bedroom and living room are my favorite rooms in our home. My husband and I worked together on the feel we wanted for both spaces and they've become a mini retreat for us. We hang out mostly in our bedroom, but when we have movie night or friends over, we hang out in the living room.

This room has been a little neglected lately with it being so cold and dreary. But the recent warm weather and NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade® scents inspired me to spruce things up.

How to Compare Mobile Plans to Get the Most Value #YourTaxCash

I love hunting down the best prices for the best value on everything I buy. I'm equally excited about making my money, especially my income tax return stretch as far as possible.

Just a few weeks ago my phone stopped working and I needed a new one. I told my husband that since we had to buy a new phone for me, we might as well get a new phone for the kids and switch them from their plan with Walmart Family Mobile over to our carrier.

Before we could finalize the decision, I had to make sure the switch would save us money. If my husband and I could get the same price with our carrier that we were paying with Walmart Family Mobile it only made sense to have one company.

So I sat down and started comparing the carriers, service and prices and found that we'd be paying more by combining the kids with our service provider and getting less service.

Mini Smore' Waffle Sandwiches
Did you hear the news? "Eggo Waffles now have colors and flavors from natural sources!" My kids grew up loving all of the fun Eggo Waffle varieties like the Kellogg's® Eggo® Blueberry, Strawberry and Chocolatey Chip Waffles, but I stopped buying them because of the ingredients. Now that Kellogg's has improved their recipe I'm ready to add them back to our menu starting with a dessert using Eggo® Cinnamon Toast.

The single slice of Eggo Cinnamon Toast is the perfect little canvas for a twist on smore's. This soft, crunchy, cinnamony Eggo topped with graham cracker crumbs, chocolate and marshmallow will have your kids drooling.

5-Minute Office Workout

My husband is my man crush every day and a big reason behind why I got back into exercising after having our fourth child.

He is super motivated, loves looking and feeling great. He exercises to keep his endurance up and keep his body in tip-top shape.
5-Minute Office Workout
So when he was plagued with chronic Sciatica, it really took a toll on him physically. Sciatica is a pain that extends from the back down through the lower leg. It usually goes away in about six weeks with rest, but my husbands lasted and worsened for three years. He drives for a living so he's sitting a lot and we think that and maybe lifting heavy weight brought on sciatica.

The Courage to Pursue My Unique Future #StrengthHasNoGender
I believe women have the ability to do one of the strongest things on earth and that is to give birth to children. I've served in the Army and law enforcement and none of the training and endurance amounts to the strength it took to carry and give birth to four amazing kids while building an amazing career.

Pops of Color Mini Home Tour + Moll Anderson's book, Change Your Home, Change Your Life with Color: What's Your Color Story?
I'm reading a new book this month that's challenging me to think differently about how I decorate my home. The book, Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson is a book slash journal that's helping me decide which colors inspire me most and how I can incorporate them into my home decor.

I'm coming up on 15 years as homeowners and one of the things I never knew before buying my home is how challenging it could be to decorate it. For several years, it was hard to figure out what would look best together so I left the walls painted in the same builders beige and decorated in mostly dark colors. My guest bathroom was one of those rooms where I'd chosen colors I'd seen used in most homes in my area. I never really felt excited about this space.

Then one day, I decided to incorporate the colors I loved into my decor and I started seeing my home differently.

Coconut Shrimp Tacos with Mango Salsa
Are you looking for an easy meal that tastes delicious and doesn't require a lot of time in the kitchen? I'm going to hook you up with the perfect recipe.

Weekends have become so busy for our house lately and while I plan out my meals during the week, I don't do so good on the weekends. I usually leave Saturday and Sunday blank on the menu so my husband and I can decide together, but we've been so busy lately that weekend meal planning has been neglected.

Most weekends we're scrambling to figure out dinner last minute. On Saturday's we are up early so we can hit the gym before breakfast. Then we're back out the door to run errands. We pop back in the house for lunch and to change clothes, then out the door again to church. By the time we are heading home for dinner, we're trying to decide what to eat. Most times we get take out or walk the aisles at the grocery store until we find something. That can be frustrating because, by that time, we're starving and tired.

We needed to come up with some easy, last-minute meals solutions that could be made in 30-minutes or less. To keep the prep time low, we knew that would require a mix of fresh and frozen ingredients.

How to Plan Ahead for a Busy Week

How to Plan Ahead for a Busy Week
Does anyone besides me sacrifice their own well being to make sure everything gets done?

That's something I have to fight against and I know I'm not alone. Do you ever have a busy week and skip the very things that fortify you just to get everything crossed off of your to-do list?

I fall into that trap a lot. I skip meals and the gym, knowing those are the two things I need to stay balanced and handle the things life throws at me. I'm getting a lot better at handling busy seasons in life due to better preparation.

4 Tips for Establishing a Good Breakfast Routine

4 Tips for Establishing a Good Breakfast Routine

I love this time of the year. It's when I get to refocus my efforts especially those related to fitness and health. This year one of my goals is to eat breakfast more often. If you follow me on Instagram, I often mention how hard it is for me to eat breakfast in the mornings.

I'm usually tired and unprepared so I skip it, even though I know breakfast one of the most important meals of the day. I work out early in the mornings, so skipping breakfast isn't the wisest thing to do.

Caprese Chicken Penne

Does anyone besides me ever get in a recipe rut? I was there this week and couldn't think of anything to make for dinner. I was tired of our go-to recipes and had a taste for something different, but didn't know what. I needed a recipe that would be easy to create, budget friendly and delicious.

I had heard about a Pasta Matchmaker recipe generator on the Mueller’s® site and decided to check it out first. The Pasta Matchmaker claims to have 30 different recipes using various Mueller’s® pasta noodles and I needed one of them A.S.A.P.

I love making pasta dishes, but after 23 years of preparing them, I find myself making the same recipes over and over. I wanted something new and only had a few hours before dinner to come up with a plan. After answering a few questions the Mueller’s® Pasta Matchmaker Quiz returned the perfect pasta dinner inspiration based on my mood, the occasion and who I was cooking for.

His and Hers Valentine's Day Mugs
Germaine and I will celebrate our seventeenth Valentine's Day together this month and our sixteenth wedding anniversary in September. After all of these years, I still wake up excited to see his face every morning and excited to be his wife.

We're planning to celebrate Valentine's Day the weekend before, but I still want to have a romantic breakfast on Tuesday.

To prep for our breakfast, I needed a few supplies so I sat down at my desk to plan before heading to the stores.
Using the American Greetings printable shopping list, I wrote down the people I needed to buy Valentine's Day cards for besides my husband, plus the supplies I needed to make His and Her's Valentine's Day Mugs for our Tuesday morning breakfast date.

Big Game Popcorn Bar | Garlic Herb Popcorn Seasoning & Cheesy Taco Popcorn Seasoning Recipes

I don't pretend to be a football fan, but I just so happened to marry a man who lived and breathed football for the first decade of our marriage. Now I'm a mom of boys who love the game just as much as their dad.

While I never learned to go bananas for game day, I did fall in love with creating themed meals for my family while they watch the games.

There was a big college game this weekend so I made concession style food to serve during game time. I chose hot dogs, pizza poppers and flavored popcorn using Orville Redenbacher® because these are things they'd find at the ballpark and they're all easy to make.

I'll show you how I created a super simple popcorn bar style concession stand over the weekend.

Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie
I am going to help all of us get and keep our sexy figures this year with all of the delicious smoothie recipes I've been sharing lately. With so many great recipes, there's no reason we should exclusively be snacking on unhealthy junk.

Junk food doesn't give us the fuel or energy we need, nor does it help us get closer to our fitness goals. All it does is fill an immediate craving and in the end sabotages us.

And we don't want that right?

One of the ways to ensure you're eating a mix of healthy snacks is by being intentional about what is in the snack section of your menu. Of the seven days in a week, just make sure most of them include a healthy snack like this Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie.

One of the easiest breakfasts we can add to our meal plan is cereal. Post has several great options like Post Great Grains, Post Cereals Raisin Brand and Post Honey Bunches of Oats which are all delicious in a bowl of cold milk. But what about those days when you don't have the time or energy to make a bowl of cereal? That's when these delicious Cranberry Yogurt Coated Cereal Bars are the perfect substitute.

    Blended PB&J Smoothie

This creamy Blended PB&J Smoothie recipe is a sponsored post written on behalf of Premier Protein. All opinions are mine.

I've been out of protein for a few weeks and it's but a real damper on my morning routine. Not only that, my husband and I have been going to the gym earlier in the mornings this year than last year which doesn't give us time to make those protein-rich, pre-workout breakfasts of eggs, oats and turkey bacon we were making last year.

Since switching our routine, I've been drinking fruit and veggie smoothies which are amazing, but they just don't give me the energy and endurance I need to lift weights.

So this weekend my husband and I decided to replenish our protein supply with single serving shakes from Premier Protein®. We've usually use protein powder but decided to incorporate single serving protein shakes to use in the mornings which are now busy for us.

Spicy Penne Arrabbiata and Cilantro Lime Cauliflower Rice
This week is starting off so crazy y'all! Today was my first day back in the gym in about four weeks. I've been sick with some kind of respiratory virus that had me on strict bed rest through the holidays. I have a ton of work to do, three recipes I want to share with y'all this month and I'm collaborating with some amazing bloggers on an "organization inspiration link up" for this month.

I feel like I'm so behind on life right now and when I'm feeling like this my first inclination is to have a caffeinated breakfast beverage and work through lunch. The thing about doing that is I end up feeling sluggish, irritable and hungry by dinner time. I want to get this week off to a good start so instead of filling my body with empty calories, I picked up the LEAN CUISINE® Marketplace Spicy Penne Arrabbiata I've been wanting to try along with a few other flavors from Target. I also grabbed a small cauliflower because I've been craving cauliflower rice lately and thought it would be a great time to share the recipe with you.

    Four Cheese Baked Macaroni

Today's delicious Four Cheese Baked Macaroni recipe and food safety tips are part of a sponsored post written on behalf of the Partnership for Food Safety Prevention (PFSE).
    Four Cheese Baked Macaroni

This week I'm brushing up on my cooking skills and practicing my Southern Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe.

I love this recipe so much and the reason I need to practice is because I am not from the south. In fact, I'm the polar opposite of a southerner. I'm a northerner born and raised in New York City. I met and married my husband who is southerner to the core. He loves southern food and has the sweet  southern drawl I love. It has taken me over a decade to perfect this recipe, learning alongside the women in his family during holidays since we married. This was my year to host Christmas dinner and I want everything to be delicious.

Today I'll show you how I make Southern Baked Macaroni and Cheese. In addition, I'm going to share some very important food safety kitchen tips.
